DAVOS - Each year in the small ski resort of Davos Switzerland the World Economic Forum gathers. Their tag line is “committed to improving the state of the world.”
Davos has become the global connecting point for innovators to bring their ambitions and solutions. From entrepreneurs and promoters to the chieftains of the largest global entities gather at significant effort and expense to connect with other changemakers.

Global perception of Davos as commonly reported in the media is that of globalist fat cats flying in on their private jets to tell the world how to run their lives and reduce their carbon footprint. There is some of that but increasingly Davos is where some of the brightest minds assemble, some with ideas that could be game changers. This year, as in other years we experienced some truly valuable solutions. A few of which we describe below. But it led us to wonder what other ideas were there and how might we learn of them.
To attempt to address this we created a survey follow up survey to to see if we could find these ideas and provide awareness. We sent it out many hundreds of those who attended mostly through the numerous whatsapp and telegram groups, the objective is to identify those projects and give them the visibility they deserve - “the Best of Davos." SEE SURVEY.
We wondered, if in our limited exposure we saw such breakthroughs, what other game changing ideas were being presented and how might we learn about them?
Our experience at Wisdom House in Davos Platz, where a non-plastic plastic alternative to the single use plastics that could address this microplastics burden was presented. Another technology can greatly reduce the mental and physical challenges that women face from menopause. We learned of new self guided approaches to mental health.
Attending another session we learned of an initiative to save fresh water while generating clean energy in Africa. AI and Biotechnology to identify and deliver the right drug to the right organ. We saw a waste to energy approach to make vertical farming economically viable by producing all the energy needed to heat, fertilize and light from the waste generated. Capable of addressing food security needs worldwide.
At the House of Pioneers we learned about a wireless energy technology that could change the nature of energy transmission that could eliminate the need for cable and infrastructure.
We are seeking specific investable projects, not general insights or ideas for solutions but rather specific technologies or entities to be scaled with the hope this visibility may help these valuable innovations reach their potential for impact.

NOTE: Since 2017 Altru have been in this game of advancing progress on complex challenges through collaboration. So we decided to conduct a survey of those who were in Davos to see what other exciting technologies presented and should be given visibility. If you had the good fortune of being in Davos, take the survey. If you’d like to see more about our findings subscribe.
